I strive to create a warm and comfortable environment to support clients to overcome their challenges, reach their goals, and help them move from where they are to where they want to be. I work with clients' strengths and help them to make different choices as well as develop new patterns for relating to others. I enjoy working with individuals with medical issues (cancer, diabetes, adolescents with medical issues), teen pregnancy, premarital, and parent-child issues.

"Kelly has helped me to open up to others and be more social again. I've been able to find a purpose again, when I used to feel like a paper weight."

I believe that a caring relationship built on the respect of my clients' personal needs is the most important component to foster healing and change. My goal is to help clients create a rich, full, meaningful life while learning to accept all emotions that are part of daily living. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, and Mindful Based Stress Reduction. I am a Certified Eating Disorder Counselor, trained in stress reduction and infertility. I have eighteen years of counseling experience including ten years at a local college.

"Counseling with Heidi has also helped me improve my communication skills with my ex-husband and my children. I am better at working out difficult issues between my kids. I am better at breaking down the an overwhelming day into bite-size pieces, making progress step by step instead of locking up or giving up."

I want the people coming into my office to feel that they have a place to feel accepted and cared for in the very first session. I help clients find their inner strength, use healthy coping skills, and learn new ways of interacting with others. I work with children, teens, adults, couples, and families who need a method of therapy that allows them to work through painful experiences using traditional and non-traditional counseling techniques.

"I thought coming in for counseling for our marriage was a sign of failure. I'll admit that I was skeptical that Genevieve could even get my wife and I talking like human beings again after all of the painful things that had happened. I guess deep down, I thought she would automatically side with my wife and tell us all of the things wrong with our marriage. She taught us better ways of communicating during our sessions and helped us save our marriage."

I believe therapy is about empowering people to take control of their life, relationships and emotions. I help people live up to their full potential. I work best with women with stress and difficult pasts, parents searching for new ways of dealing with their kids and children with emotional or behavioral problems.

"When I brought my kids to see Gabrielle, I was not sure if they would even talk to her about what was going on. It took about two seconds for them to warm up to her and I was so surprised to see how quick their behavior changed. Without Gabrielle, I don't know what would have happened to our family."

I approach therapy with the knowledge that life is difficult. My goals are to meet my clients where they are with acceptance and understanding and to help them find solutions and hope for the future. With twelve years experience teaching junior high school prior to becoming a therapist, I have a love for working with adolescents. I also enjoy working with adults, couples, parents, and families.

"I often hear her 'voice of reason' when I am struggling with a decision. Pooh helps me find clarity in complicated issues. I have learned many stress coping skills and have found closure for traumatic events in my life."
